                    PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – Michael Chang

Aloha ASHRAE Ohana,

I want to thank Albert and all the hardworking individuals who supported ASHRAE Hawaii over the past year.  With all the local, national, and global events that have been thrown at everyone personally and in their businesses, we have to appreciate the time put towards giving back to the engineering community and society that the active ASHRAE Hawaii members provide.  For the upcoming year, we will look forward to:

·     Providing Technical Education –Through our monthly meetings and Technical Seminar/Product Show

·     Giving Back to the Community – Encourage students to pursue engineering/mechanical trades careers

·     Strengthen Hawaii’s “Mechanical” Industry – Work to communicate and involve all contributors

Five years ago, Joseph Ting, in one of his (in)famous discussions, enlightened me about the contributions of ASHRAE to Society and the obligation as the beneficiaries of the hard work of all of those who came before us to jump in and do the best we can to move the society forward in the best direction possible.

So that is what I will try to do this year.

Mahalo,

Michael

                    OUTGOING PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE – ALBERT HAHN, P.E.

Aloha ASHRAE Hawaii,

It has been my pleasure serving as your president in ASHRAE Society Year 2009-10. As I depart from my office as president, I would

like to offer my congratulations and support for your new president Michael Chang. Also, I would like to offer this challenge to the chapter in general, get off the sidelines and get involved!

ASHRAE, as you all know, is a volunteer based organization. Our great organization has served to provide research and education internationally as most importantly has served as an advocate for our mechanical engineering community. Without volunteers none of this could ever take place. I encourage everyone who is not involved to become a contributor and not just a consumer. I assure you from my own experience that your service will not only benefit our community, but that you will learn and grow through your experience.

There is a lot of work left to do so remember that many hands will make the work easy!

Mahalo for your support!

Albert Hahn, P.E.
